Commissioners Scott Miller, Scott Blain, and Bill Bullock; and Administrative Officer Angela Newell were present.
8:30 Pledge of Allegiance.
Sanitarian Assistant Lori Kane met with Commissioners regarding waiving installer fees for septic installers that take the county’s training. Blain moved to waive septic installer fees for 2022 on the condition that the installer attends the County’s training; miller seconded; motion carried.

9:00 Treasurer Lori Kane and Deputy Treasurer Leah Niemi met with Commissioners regarding Quarterly Collateral. As of December 31, 2021, there was $31,663,193.82 in banks, investments, and office cash. Total cash is down from this time last year, due to the draw down of school bonds for construction projects. Blain moved to accept Treasurer Collateral report; Miller seconded; motion carried.
9:30 Red Lodge Mayor Kristin Cogswell met with Commissioners for her weekly update. Discussion regarding renaissance festival. Also discussed Fair Board meeting; concerns about City and County relations. Discussion regarding historical riff between Red Lodge and the rest of the county; Cogswell and Commissioners confirmed their commitment work together on issues. Discussed history of City’s hooved animal ordinance that outlawed the Fair resulting in the de-annexation of Fair property and perceived lack of Red Lodge participation in Fair animal sales.
Clerk and Recorder Cristine Stovall met with Commissioners regarding the disposal of the Clerk and Recorder’s old large format scanner/printer. Discussed including it in the radio equipment sale, as the specialized equipment would be more appealing to other counties than to the general carbon county public.
10:00 County Attorney Alex Nixon met with Commissioners for his weekly meeting. Discussed the new marijuana shop in Roberts; Blain is concerned the shop does not meet the school setback requirements of 500 feet as outlined in 16-12-207 (3)(iii)MCA.
Blain spoke with the Montana Department of Revenue (DOR) regarding the new dispensary in Roberts; per DOR the dispensary and school are on different streets (based on their addresses) so the 500ft setback does not apply.
12:00 Adjourned.
Respectfully submitted: Angela Newell, Administrative Officer
