COMMISSIONERS’ PROCEEDINGS
May 17, 2022
Commissioners Scott Miller and Scott Blain, and Administrative Officer Angela Newell were present.
8:30 Pledge of Allegiance.
Clerk and Recorder Christine Stovall and Election Administrator Crystal Roascio met with Commissioners to discuss elections machines. At the election machine public test it was observed the tabulation machine cases have a screw through the manufacturer seal. The seal was not related to the security of the machines, but members of the public have demanded an investigation. Per the Secretary of State (SOS), the County Sheriff’s office is not certified to handle machines. SOS also noted the issues does not warrant an investigation because security seals were not altered. What is in that compartment is not part of the interior working of the tabulator. Roascio has discussed with Nixon, he agrees with the SOS and does not believe anything additional needs to be done at this time. Roascio has submitted all maintenance logs to SOS. Discussion about court process to access ballots for the November 2020 election; Roascio confirmed that ballots are still in retention, but she can not open them unless it is ordered by the Court.
Discussed push for petition to place marijuana legalization on the November ballot. Roascio noted would need 15% of registered voters to sign petition (with signatures validated), would also need ballot language approved before petition is circulated. Petition would need to be received by the Clerk and Recorder’s Office by mid-July.
10:20 Blain moved to approve Commissioners Proceedings for April 21 and 26; Miller seconded; motion carried.
12:00 Adjourned.

Respectfully submitted: Angela Newell, Administrative Officer
