COMMISSIONERS’ PROCEEDINGS
October 2, 2017
Commissioners Doug Tucker, Scott Blain, and Bill Bullock, and Administrative Assistant Angela Newell were present.
8:30 Pledge of Allegiance
Gordon Sirrine was present.
Commissioner Tucker moved to appoint Judy Prinkki as Court House representative on Insurance Committee; Commissioner Bullock seconded; carried.
9:00 Red Lodge Mayor Michael Schoenike, Council Woman Polly Richter, and Dan Gainer met with Commissioners regarding the Red Lodge Cemetery District referendum. County Attorney Alex Nixon, Election Administrator Macque Bohleen, and Deputy Clerk and Recorder Lola Ashby were present. The City presented Commissioners with a legal description of the proposed District. Commissioners discussed the ¾ acres not showing City ownership in the deed record. Commissioners would like the deed record corrected before ordering the referendum. Per MCA, any property acquired after the district is created must be proportionally owned by the City and County; the County would prefer the City retain full ownership and not transfer land to the District if it is created. Commissioners will hold a special meeting Tuesday October 10th to make final decision on ordering the Referendum in hopes that will give the City enough time to address ownership issues.
10:00 Sanitarian Josh Juarez met with Commissioners for quarterly report. Josh noted concerns with not getting licensed establishment inspections completed. He has also not had time to provide “Serve Safe” training to local restaurants; if he was providing the training and restaurants were not sending employees it would be a closure item. Floodplain is consuming 90% of time and has a much smaller impact on public health. Josh is concerned that contracting Planning services with CTA cause many planning questions to come to his office.
10:30 DES Coord. / GIS Mgr. Tom Kohley was called out to an incident and unavailable to review his monthly report (attached).
12:00 Adjourned
Respectfully submitted: Angela Newell, Administrative Assistant
