COMMISSIONERS’ PROCEEDINGS
October 29, 2018
Commissioners Robert ‘Pits’ DeArmond, Scott Blain, and Bill Bullock, and Administrative Officer Angela Newell were present.
8:30 Pledge of Allegiance
8:50 DES Coord. / GIS Mgr. Tom Kohley met with Commissioners to discuss a grant application for fuels mitigation at Red Lodge Mountain. Tom is proposing the County apply on behalf of Red Lodge Mountain and the Red Lodge Rural Fire District. Tom also discussed grant applications for 911 surplus funds. Tom is considering applying for funding to improve radio system microwave links, to upgrade the mapping system platform, and to update dispatch consuls. Commissioners asked if the funding could be used to help pay for radio system upgrades. Tom will get more guidance on the grant scoring criteria. Commissioners will place the grant applications on a future agenda so they can be formally approved.
10:30 Phil Mankin met with Commissioners for the Public Hearing regarding naming the old section of Highway 212/310 between Rockvale and Laurel. DES Coord. / GIS Mgr. Tom Kohley was also present. Phil noted there are already a number of roads in the north end of Carbon County that have “river road” in them; he believes adding another may be confusing. Phil supports the originally proposed name the Bundy Ferry Road; he appreciates the historic reference of the name. Commissioners also received a call from Dean Sipe who would like a shorter name than Clarks Fork River Road which was discussed at the meeting in Joliet. Dean suggested Commissioners consider the Clarks Fork Rd or Clarks River Road. Commissioners and Tom agreed that a shorter name would be beneficial; of the two suggestions they preferred Clarks River Road. Commissioner Blain noted that geographically the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone is south of Rockvale which is south of the section of road being renamed. Commissioner Blain moved to rename the old Highway 212/310 the Clarks River Road; Commissioner DeArmond seconded; motion carried.
Commissioner DeArmond moved to approve employee time for October 14 – 27, 2018 as submitted; Commissioner Blain seconded; motion carried.
Commissioner Blain moved to approve Commissioners proceedings for October 22, 2018; Commissioner DeArmond seconded; motion carried.
